About the Event
The reading/discussion group will be focusing on Italian philosopher/theorist Antonio Gramsci's "Prison Notebooks". We have a selection of entries from Journal 3 which we will read as a group, discussing as we go along. (The PDF of the reading material can be obtained, at no cost, by emailing coalitionagainstprejudice@gmail.com)
Discussing and understanding Antonio Gramsci's ideas of cultural hegemony, and his ideas behind Structure and the Superstructures of Capitalism can help give us deeper insight into the power structures acting upon us today, and can help us forge a new path forward as Americans.
This reading is of a slightly more advanced level compared to some of the "intro" texts that we have done in the past, but the purpose of these discussions is for us to work through things together! We invite you to join us.
We're looking forward to reading and discussing with you!
